A Story That Was Never
Meant to Be Told
THE FILM
It is a story of leadership under impossible conditions.
Of missions that were never meant to be known.
Of a team that operated in the shadows for decades.

For the first time, through rare firsthand accounts, classified history, and never-before-seen materials, the film reveals the full scope of Major James Capers Jr. and Team Broadminded — both on the battlefield and beyond it.

This is the story behind the honor.

THE MISSIONS
War was only the surface.
These missions were never meant to be seen.

Carried out in silence, often without recognition,
they reveal the scale, risk, and uncertainty behind Capers’ service.

Now, for the first time, these missions are revealed through rare footage, personal recordings from the battlefield, and firsthand accounts.

SELECTED MISSIONS
B-57 RECOVERY MISSION
A Top-Secret recovery operation deep in enemy territory.
Rumors of a nuclear weapon aboard raised the stakes.
Capers and his team moved through jungle, rivers, and minefields to complete the mission.

PHU LOC
Pinned down, wounded, and surrounded, Team Broadminded faced collapse. Capers sustained more than 17 wounds — and remained in command. With no path out, he called in an airstrike at near-impossible range.
This is the mission now recognized with the Medal of Honor.
This was only part of the story...

KHE SANH
In one of the most intense battles of the war, Capers and his team were sent deep into enemy territory.
A Marine gave his life to save another — a moment that would define the mission.
Under relentless pressure, Team Broadminded held their ground and helped turn the tide.

OPERATION DOUBLETALK
A covert mission into enemy territory — driven by the possibility of American prisoners still alive.
Capers and his team moved through dense jungle toward a target that could not be confirmed.
What they found raised more questions than answers — a glimpse into operations that were never meant to be known.

These were not isolated moments.
They were part of a larger history that remained hidden for decades.

LEGACY
The Story of Capers and Team Broadminded
For decades, much of the story of Major James Capers Jr. and Team Broadminded remained buried in classified missions, private sacrifice, and history that moved on too quickly.

Now, that story is finally coming into view.

That keeps Capers central, but puts the film back on its true subject.

STARS AND STRIPES
A remarkable story of courage, leadership, and legacy.

MAXIM

THE MAN
More than a Marine
Before the missions,
before the recognition,

there was a man shaped by discipline,
by expectation,
by a world that demanded more.

He led where others could not.
He endured what others never saw.

For decades, his story remained untold.

This is the man behind the honor.
His record speaks for itself.
A LIFE OF FIRSTS

Led over 50 classified missions in Vietnam.
Sustained 19 combat-related injuries.
Later served in covert operations with the CIA.
Became the face of the Marine Corps during a national campaign.
